On another day of disgraceful scaremongering on the BBC from the Head of the Navy and Philip Hammond I was filled with a mixture of disappointment and anger.
I wondered if the ‘fear’ campaign would be so filled with vitriol if the term Independence was replaced by the term Freedom. In political terms and insofar as Scotland’s referendum is concerned the terms are synonymous.
I reflected on the freedom struggle in Africa and the fact that the first country to revere Nelson Mandela and their struggle for Freedom was Scotland.
I switched on the radio and, like a gift from Nelson Mandela, over the airwaves came the haunting sound of Labi Siffre with his classic ‘Something Inside So Strong’.
This was so powerful and uplifting that I felt I must share this moment. The words are so poignant. It’s as if this was written for the people of Scotland
Listen to and read the words on this clip and imagine for a moment that this is the voice of the Scottish people. Turn up the volume, shout it out, share it. I guarantee this will lift your spirit higher and higher and it will drown out the voices of all those dissenters.
Every time I feel down, right up until the 18th I will recharge my enthusiasm with the words of this amazing song. Hit the link above – think about the struggle for Scottish Independence – I know you will agree.
