Hypocrisy Sir

I like it when someone shares my point of view.  Actually, and perhaps I am maturing, but I also like when someone challenges me with a different point of view – what an opportunity to learn something new.

But I hate ambivalence, double standards, two-faced people.  Far too many politicians fit that bill.  In fact, for politicians it is almost a qualification.  Perhaps they should have letters after their name, such as TFB; where T is two and F is faced…

High on the agenda, especially with the current success of UKIP and their direct threat to Cameron, the subject of the EU referendum is never far from the agenda.  I could not count the number of times I had heard members of the Cabinet or Camerons’ inner sanctum try to explain the Modus Operandi where Cameron will attempt to get a better deal on Europe before he puts it to the UK in a referendum.  Of course this will never happen. But for now he feels the promise will placate the people – although he really should see the migration to UKIP as a measure of that tactic.  That said, on Question Time last night Jeremy Hunt trotted out this same old story.  Menzies Campbell, who makes me cringe, nevertheless asked a very telling question of Hunt.  It was load like a week old nappy.  ‘In these negotiations with Europe what would be a red-line issue?’ and he listed many potential examples.  Jeremy Hunt looked lost for words then blurted out smugly ‘you wouldn’t expect the Prime Minister to give away that information before a negotiation?’

Boot, bin, TV, fury, wrecked, apology – rearrange into a well known outcome?

Flash back to the referendum.  I don’t know how many times I shouted at the TV, the radio or any other communication when Alex Salmond was criticised for not giving away his negotiating strategy BEFORE THE AGREED NEGOTIATION.  You will all remember that bl**dy hypocritical question:

WHAT’S YOUR PLAN B?

So I would say to Cameron:

WHAT’S YOUR PLAN A?

Hypocrisy is like a bad smell, it sticks to your clothes, it gets in your hair it refuses to go away.  This piece of hypocrisy will be around for a very long time
