My main focus is Scotland’s referendum. However, some things make me mad.
For many years I have felt that much of the world’s ill are down to the UN. By that I mean the weakness and bureaucracy of the UN has turned them into disaster viewers or in the extreme, genocide participants.
Consider this example. In 1995 the ‘Siege of Srebrenica’ [read about it] saw 7000 unarmed Muslim men and boys handed over to the Serb forces for summary execution by UN Dutch forces? One of the key stupidity factors in the massacre was the UN Dutch commander requested support from the UN but FILLED IN THE WRONG FORM.
This is incompetence and callousness on an unimaginable scale. But this is how the world of people perceive the UN. They are breathtakingly useless.
Everywhere the UN goes, an emergency turns into a disaster of epic proportions. We learn of UN inactivity, lack of decision making, bodged bureaucracy.
I was reminded of this massacre on the news just a few days. We were reminded that it was the Dutch UN forces that handed over these unarmed Muslim men to be slaughtered. 2 days later, we see Malaysian Airlines MH17 shot out of the skies with mainly Dutch civilians on board, 189 of the 298 who lost their lives. Of course there is absolutely no connection and to suggest there may be would be a ridiculous conspiracy theory? wouldn’t it?
AS if MH17 was not enough for the world, at the same time we have the disaster in Gaza. Nobody in their right mind condones the actions of Hamas firing rockets into Israel. Like everyone else I hear about his through the media. I know no more than anyone else, but I know one specific thing, we are getting one side of the story. That may be completely true, but in my lifetime I have never experienced the truth from listening to only one side.
Nobody can doubt that Gaza and especially its innocent civilians are being hit by vastly disproportionate forces. The ordinary people of Gaza have no control over Hamas, no power to influence the Israels, all they can do is cower in fear, die in droves and offer the world’s media the destroyed corpses of their children for their lead stories.
Was there every a greater need for a United Nations force to go into such an area, set up a demilitarised zone DMZ, control that area for the innocents and issue a diktat to either side to stop killing each other or face the consequences of the UN. If necessary bang there heads together so hard that they pay attention and keep paying attention.
If the UN cannot do that then let’s scrap them altogether, save as all a lot of money and consider setting up a proper United Nations forces with a proper global mandate for peace and reconciliation and sufficient force to carry it through.
The world of ordinary people must be aghast at what is happening in Ukraine. I understand the complexity of the situation on both sides. I see Ukraine as Russia’s Cuba. I believe that the European expansion programme was always going to come a cropper. It did before in 1914 and 1939 which cost almost a billion lives. Did they think, ‘3rd time lucky’ or did they simply not think. I also understand that Russia can present an ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’. So this whole area was a train wreck coming down the line.
When innocent civilians from Holland, Australia, Malaysia, Belgium, UK, Germany, Canada, Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand and the US are slaughtered in a militarised area I would reasonably expect the UN to be first on the scene, stabilising and locking down what is an international crime scene, rounding up everyone in the vicinity whether a witness of perpetrator and securing complete access and cooperation for the experts to carry out a full investigation as befits international law.
What are we actually seeing? First of all, there can be little doubt that the Russian backed Separatist Rebels in Ukraine used BUK missiles to ‘down’ MK17. This may have been accidental or deliberate – either way, that does not matter, they had the means and they will and they almost certainly did it.
Since then we have the world’s media in a loop telling us the same detail and making the same speculation over and over and over. We are even talking to the family and relatives of the victims doing a media epitaph.
In the background the scene is lying there smouldering. Wreckage, bodies and body parts remain strewn over a 9 mile area. Locals, rebels, journalists are wandering around this crime scene, destroying, tampering or removing evidence. We hear of people ‘raiding’ the area for valuables, stealing identities, God knows where the Black Boxes have ended up.
The experts are unable to get ‘permission’ from the likely perpetrators to access the area. [Read about it]
.. And where are the UN? They are probable back in their office in Geneva trying to find the correct forms to fill out.
Many of the world’s military giants are directly affected by this disaster; including nuclear powers, and what are they doing? complaining? protesting?
THIS IS MILITARY INCOMPETENCE ON A BREATHTAKING SCALE. THE UN IS A COMPLETELY USELESS AND FUTILE (NON)FORCE THAT GETS IN THE WAY OF NATIONS RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES – IT SHOULD BE SCRAPPED
In fact, the UN has presided over just about every case of genocide since the 2nd world war displaying breathtaking incompetence and costing tens of millions of lives. [read about it]
Scotland is crippled by the costs of their nuclear capability. Scotland has never wanted this capability and fought for decades for its removal. Westminster has constantly insisted on its continuance on the basis that it guarantees peace through strength.
HOWEVER, WHEN THREATENED, WE DISCOVER JUST HOW WEAK AND INCAPACITATED WE REALLY ARE.
As we enter Scotland’s referendum we must ask ourselves why we are allowing ourselves to be dominated by the worlds biggest ‘military white elephant’ that threatens our safety, drains our resources and turns out to be
A COMPLETELY USELESS WASTE OF MONEY AND A FUTILE FORCE THAT HINDERS THE DEFENCE OF CIVILIANS EVERYWHERE IT GOES
If Gaza and MH17 isn’t bringing this point home, then I fear that nothing will
