My old mate Dunky always said ‘don’t go into a gunfight with a knife. The UK is going into British Exit negotiations gunning for our best deal and armed to the teeth with a … cushion. Perhaps she will smother them? Perhaps one of the 27 will do us a favour and put the cushion to better use.
First of all, I am an ardent Independence supporter for the right reasons. Because of that I want independence from the UK, independence from the EU and most importantly independence from the US.
I suspect some of my neighbours will have come to the realisation that the world according to Trump and with his really really big toys at Faslane and Coulport is not a safe place. If it all goes a bit Pete Tong we will discover we were not the big boys with the big guns – we were the big decoys to buy the US time.
Now if anybody is in any doubt about US independence just switch on Sky and count the number of American channels. Switch to Netflix and count the number of American moves. Of course they all have one thing in common – they are tripe with the subterfuge American way of life moral undercurrent.
So back to May and her negotiation strategy. Today she has thrown the toys out because the EU are trying to undermine the general election. Is she bloody kidding!! We are going into the the biggest negotiation the world has ever seen where strength is vital. May calls a general election beforehand and thinks the EU won’t try to weaken her position going into a negotiation. I really must repeat this … is she bloody kidding. I would be really shocked if the EU DIDN’T try to weaken her position.
In fact and in terms of negotiation, it would be a better result if Jeremy Corbyn had a good result and the Tories ended up with a minority in Parliament. That way, the EU would realise that they would have to come up with an agreement that May can take back to Parliament with a reasonable chance of success – that would be a much better negotiation.
