The other day I had a bit of a ding-dong with a Twitter twit who was having a go at Nicola Sturgeon, claiming there were spare seats at the Govan Hall.  Nicola tweeted that the hall was full.  In response, this twit counted a few empty seats and declared the hall only partly full and another example of SNP lies!  The brain of Britain responsible was Catherine Moorehead under @CJuliaSM.  It never occurred to her that the very few empty seats may have been seats kept, people off talking to pals or simply just the hall filling up.  My information was the hall was full to bursting with some people standing, that security had allowed in.  I’m sure you can imaging how that exchange went between us – me being a shrinking violet and all that!

I thought it useful to include this little intro to introduce my main theme.  Yesterday, I was lucky enough to get given one of the 12,000 free tickets to the Glasgow Hydro to see Nicola Sturgeon.  I didn’t want to bother going early because @CJuliaSM had assured me that echos follow Nicola around on her low capacity tour dates.  However, with a sense of caution I left a couple of hours early – just in case!

The tour was a sell-out, of course.  In fact it sold out quicker than Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.  This was a rock concert without the rockers – although, there were some great acts on the bill including the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Stanley Odd and Dougie McLean.

Nicola

Can you imagine a political event to give a new leader a chance to address her new party and say thanks for their support that outsells some the the top rock and pop performers in the world.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but within hours, ‘Lord’ Brown threw his hand in, joining the ranks of Darling and Lamont. And I mean rank! This picture did it for me.  Does this look like a loser? Does it?

The ‘winners’ if you can call the ‘parcel of rogues’ that have crashed and are still burning.  Gordon Brown is the latest casualty, but HE WILL NOT BE THE LAST.

My heart goes out to Charlotte Rose at the Rochester and Strood By-election.  She lost her deposit, but was not phased by that.  When she discovered she had been narrowly beaten by Geoff Juby for the LibDems on 0.87% of the vote she was inconsolable!  Labour, of course lost Emily Thornberry with her ‘white van English man’ jibe in a remarkable hara kiri act and the Conservatives are well on there way to losing … well, everything.

Nicola informed an adoring crowd of members that virtually, while on air, the membership that began at 25,000 and rose to 90,000 had now risen to 92,000+.  Put it another way, they could not fit their membership into Hampden Park or Wembley.

Stewart Hosie, the new Deputy Leader gave a very competent address and another wee guy who answered to ‘Eck’ got a rapturous standing ovation.

I’m not SNP as my readers now.  However, I will continue my campaign to encourage as many Scots as possible to vote SNP and of course they will certainly get my vote.  However, during the event I was hardly on my seat and ended the day, pretty much clapped out and hoarse.

They say ‘a picture speaks a thousand words’.  Have a look again at the picture.  Does that look like a loser.  If you were lucky enough to be there, did that sound like a bunch of losers?

Nicola, our new First Minister, has already made her mark in Holyrood where she has committed to embrace all parties and welcome their input in her quest to continue to make Scotland a better place.  She has also committed to represent and welcome every single Scot and resident of Scotland and especially those people who chose to vote against independence.  She rightly anticipates their sense of disappointment as the promises and the Vow vaporise into the ether.

Throughout the campaign, we repeatedly made the remark that all we had to do for independence was put a cross in a box.  People all over the world have given their life for independence, yet for us it was so simple.  Perhaps, that’s the key.  Perhaps it was too easy.  Perhaps we need to struggle a bit more, maybe a lot more.  Perhaps then, when we finally achieve independence, as we will, we will cherish it far more for the struggle it took to get there.

But, I see a problem.  This is huge.  When we finally get our independence, and we will, and we have independence parties and events all over the country – and we turn up for our ‘freedom’ rally at the Glasgow SSE Hydro –

HOW THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO TOP YESTERDAY’S EVENT??
